Nine years ago a set of proposals and strategies for development of a long-range policy and research agenda for the Adirondack Park was published in AJES (Fall 1997; Spring 1998). As the Adirondack Research Consortium embarks on the next chapter of its evolution as an incorporated nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, it seems appropriate to revisit this proposed agenda and to suggest that it serve as a “white paper” for reaction and discussion among those interested in the role that research can play to inform policy, planning, and management of the public and private lands of the Adirondack Park.
